General history and facts:

”M/S Vaxö” is a passenger built in 1993 by Oskarshamns shipyard for Waxholms Ångfartygs AB, Sweden. It entered service on 16th of May 1993 as a commuter vessel in the Stockholm's archipelago. It has four sister ships, named ”M/S Viberö”, ”M/S Vånö”, ”M/S Väddö” and ”M/S Värmdö”. In 1994 the management of the vessel was taken by Stockholms Sjötrafik AB. In 2000, new engines of MAN D2842 type were installed and in 2009 once more the engines were exchanged with the current MTU 12V 2000 M60. Since 2019, Vaxö is operated by Blidösundsbolaget AB, Stockholm.
