General history and facts:

”M/S Jupiter” is a car and passenger ferry built in 2007 by Riga shipyard in Latvia and equipped by “Uudenkaupungin Työvene OY”, Finland. It is was ordered on 22nd of September 2005 and on 15th of May 2007 it was delivered to Vägverket Färjerederiet, Vaxholm under the name “Jupiter” with inventory number 345. Several days latter it was assigned the line Östanå–Ljusterö. “Jupiter” has two other sister vessels, “M/S Venus” and “M/S Pluto”. In 2010 there was a modernisation in the road administration system and a new entity of “Trafikverket” was created. From 2010 “Trafikverket Färjerederiet” manages and runs “Jupiter”.
