M/S Venus

   

General history and facts:

”M/S Venus” is a car and passenger ferry built in 2003 by Riga shipyard in Latvia and equipped by “Uudenkaupungin Työvene OY”, Finland. It is was ordered on 17th of July 2002 and on 12th of September 2003 it was delivered to Vägverket Färjerederiet, Vaxholm under the name “Venus” with inventory number 340. A month latter, on 27 of October 2003 it was assigned the line Östanå–Ljusterö. “Venus” has two other sister vessels, and “M/S Jupiter” and “M/S Pluto”. In 2007 it was transferred to the line Kolhättan–Svanesund. In 2010 there was a modernisation in the road administration system and a new entity of “Trafikverket” was created. From 2010 “Trafikverket Färjerederiet” manages and runs “Venus”. In the more recent times it was assigned to the route Slagsta–Jungfrusund around Ekerö, Sweden.
