General history and facts:

”M/S Pluto” is a car and passenger ferry built in 2004 by Riga shipyard in Latvia and equipped by “Uudenkaupungin Työvene OY”, Finland. It is was ordered on 17th of July 2002 and on 28th of February 2004 it was delivered to Vägverket Färjerederiet, Vaxholm under the name “Pluto” with inventory number 341. Several days latter it was assigned the line Östanå–Ljusterö. “Pluto” has two other sister vessels, and “M/S Jupiter” and “M/S Venus”. In February 2005 it was transferred to the line Öregrund–Gräsö. In 2010 there was a modernisation in the road administration system and a new entity of “Trafikverket” was created. From 2010 “Trafikverket Färjerederiet” manages and runs “Pluto”. In November 2011 it was transferred to the route Slagsta–Jungfrusund, which ever since is the usual line for the ferry with a small exception in the summer-autimn of 2014 (assigned to Öregrund–Gräsö line).
