Embraer S.A. is a multinational company founded in São José dos Campos, São Paulo. Today Embraer is one of the leading manufacturers of civil, military and agricultural aircraft. Its history can be traced back to 19th of August 1969, when the Brazilian government established the company under the name Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica (Embraer). In the early days the production was focused only on one model aircraft, the medium-sized Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante with a capacity up to 21 passengers. The development of the model started in 1965 at the Brazilian Ministry of Aeronautics as Project IPD-6504. The maiden flight of Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante commenced on 22nd of October 1968, several months before the official inauguration of the company.
In the 1970’s, Embraer introduced two new models for the needs of the military, Embraer AT-26 Xavante and Embraer EMB 312 Tucano. These were the days, when the company signed a partnership agreement to produce Piper aircraft under license. Since 1974 around 2,500 Pipers were produced in the factories of Embraer for the duration of the whole program. In the early 1980s, another passenger model was developed and produced at Embraer, the 30-seat passenger turboprop Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia. The 1990s were marked by a whole new family of slightly larger passenger aircraft, the ERJ family, with Embraer ERJ 135, 140 and 145 models. Later in 2000s, the aircraft were gradually enlarged to accommodate between 60 and 120 passengers with the E-Jet family models Embraer E-Jet 170, 175, 190 and 195. In 2010s, Embraer introduced a new family of aircraft, E-Jet E2, with even larger passenger capacity (between 80 and 140 seats). This is the current family of aircraft with the models Embraer 175-E2, 190-E2 and 195-E2.
In the 2020s Embraer grew to the world’s 3rd largest commercial airplane manufacturer with more than 18,000 employees and around 8,000 jets delivered.
The active Embraer aircraft are spotted through an advanced radiolocation. Successful airframe locks and identification are plotted for each month in a table format.
