General history and facts:

”M/S Castella” is a car and passenger ferry, built by “Lunde Varv och Verkstads AB” and delivered to the Swedish Road Administration on 20th of July 1980 under the name “Färja 61/311”. Briefly after that it was assigned to the route Lilla Varholmen–Hönö, however, in July 1981 it was transferred to Vaxholm–Rindö line. In 1988 it was renamed “Castella”. In 1998 it was fit with new engines, Scania DSI 11 79M, 1,365 hp (1,004 kW). In 2001 it was anlared with 12 m in length at Algots Varv AB, Mariehamn. In 2010 there was a modernisation in the road administration system and a new entity of “Trafikverket” was created. From 2010 “Trafikverket Färjerederiet” manages and runs “Castella”. In 2018 the steering system was exchanged as well as the engines to Volvo Penta D9 A2J MH300, 1,200 hp (882 kW). Usually, it is serving the line Vaxholm-Rindö in the Stockholm's archipelago transport system.
