M/S Waxholm I

   

General history and facts:

”M/S Waxholm I” is a passenger ship built in Lunde Varv och Verkstads AB for Waxholms Ångfartygs AB, Sweden. The vessel was delivered in 30th of June 1983 and in about two weeks later, on 2nd of July 1983, “Waxholm I” had its maiden voyage as a passnger ship in the Stockholm's archipelago. In 1987 new engines of a type MAN D2842 LE, 836 hp (615 kW) were installed. In 1994 Stockholms Sjötrafik AB took over the operations of the vessel. In 2000 the engines were exchanged with Mitsubishi S6A3, 1,140 hp (838 kW). During December 2006, “Waxholm I” was renovated at Oskarshamn’s shipyard. On 16th of April 2007 the operator changed to Skärgårdsvind AB and on 18th of August 2008 the operator changed again to Stockholms Sjötrafik AB. In September 2009 new engines Volvo Penta D16C-B MH, 1,200 hp (882 kW) were installed. During the 2010s there were several changes in the operator until 1st of October 2019, when the ship’s management was taken by Blidösundsbolaget AB, Stockholm. On 8th of March 2023, “Waxholm I” left the shipyard of “Tenö varv AB” after change of the main engines to the current Scania DI16, 1,360 hp (1,000 kW).
