General history and facts:

”M/S Aurora” is a car and passenger ferry built in 1972 by “AB Åsi-verken”, Åmål, Sweden. It was delivered on 23rd of November the same year to the Swedish Road Administration under the name “Färja 61/292”. In 1989 “Aurora” was extended in length and breadth with 8.98/0.68 m respectively to its modern dimensions. The engines were doubled from the original two and also exchanged with Scania DSI 11 M01, 1,080 hp (794 kW) model. Since 1990 it was assigned to the Larshamn–Norrsund line. In 1992 the name of the vessel was changed to “Aurora”. In 2000 two of the engines were changed to Scania DSI 12 and in 2003 the older two were swapped to Scania D12. In 2010 there was a modernisation in the road administration system and a new entity of “Trafikverket” was created. From 2010 “Trafikverket Färjerederiet” manages and runs “Aurora”.
