General history and facts:

”M/S Östan” is a passenger ship built in 1969 by Marinteknik Verkstads AB for Waxholms Ångfartygs AB, Sweden. Two days after delivery, on 14th August 1969 it entered service under the name Östan as a commuter vessel in the Stockholm's archipelago. In 1992 it was sold to Koster Marin AB and renamed to “Kostervåg”. In 1995 it was sold to Rederi AB and renamed “Södertörn”. The engines were exchanged in 1995 to Scania DSI 14 and once more in 2007 to Scania DI16. In 2018 the ship was bought by Blidösundsbolaget AB, Stockholm and the name was changed back to the original “Östan“. In 2020 the main engines were changed to the current Scania DI13 070M.
