The Leonardo AW139 (ICAO model code A139) is a twin-engine rotorcraft, originally designed by AgustaWestland, which in 2016 was merged into Leonardo S.p.A. The model is conceptualised as a multirole helicopter, suitable for search and rescue, law enforcement, emergency medical service, but also for corporate transport and military duties.
The Leonardo AW139 is designed to fit multiple roles and carry substantial amount of load. The rotorcraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6C engines, driving the five-blade main rotor with a titanium hub. The tail rotor is an articulated four-bladed classical solution. The landing gear sits in tricycle configuration and it is fully retractable for improved aerodynamics.
