Description: The airplane was on a flight between Coari and Manaus. It took off with 7 persons above the certified maximum of 2 crew and 19 passengers. The overweight is calculated to be 549.7 kg above the maximum take-off weight, since on board were 2 crew members and 26 passengers. The left engine failed in route and the pilot attempted emergency landing on an abandoned runway some 80 km before the final destination. The aircraft crashed into Manacapuru river and submerged to a depth of 5 to 7 m. The survivors were able to open the emergency door and exit the aircraft to reach the surface. The crew and the remaining 24 passengers were drowned. The rescuers were able to recover all bodies 0f the 15 adults, 7 children and the both crew members. The airframe of Embraer 110 Bandeirante with manufacturer serial number of 110352 was written-off. | |||||||
