Description: The aircraft was on a regular flight from Fort de France-Lamentin Airport, Martinique to Antigua-Coolidge International Airport, Antigua and Barbuda. The take off was normal at 11:04 UTC and the airplane reached cruising altitude at around 11:09 UTC. It established radio contact with the Antigua ATC at around 11:15 UTC, and was guided to elevation of 2,500 feet. However, in 11:25 UTC the pilot reported that the runway is not in sight. The plane was seen to fly bellow the clouds, in rain with the landing gear down and flaps partially extended. Soon after that, the Boeing 707-121B with registration N708PA crashed into the mountain of Montserrat at 2,760 feet elevation. The cause for the disaster was that the aircraft descended below the safe height, without establishing accurate position in poor weather conditions and limited visibility. | |||||||
